ODM leader Raila Odinga has donated five acres of his family land in Kisumu’s Kirembe area to President William Ruto’s government.

The land will be used for the construction of affordable housing units, a project that aligns with President Ruto’s ongoing efforts to provide decent homes for low- and middle-income earners.

Raila made the announcement on Thursday, May 29, during a public address in Kisumu, where the head of state is on a development tour.

In his speech, Raila emphasized that the affordable housing initiative is part of a broader vision to uplift the lives of ordinary Kenyans.

“Building affordable housing for citizens is one of the government’s plans to support the people. We began this program a long time ago because we are facing five major challenges: the right to shelter, the right to food, the right to housing, good health, and education,” Raila said.

The donated land is strategically located near Kisumu International Airport and the Kisumu-Busia Highway, making it ideal for large-scale development.
