Joho Leads Dialogue on Sustainable Mineral Development in Samburu County

Mining Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho on Tuesday has a productive meeting with the members of the Samburu community who included County Executive members.

The team was l;ead by governor Jonathan Lati Lelelit alongside Members of the County Assembly during a sensitization forum on mineral development in the county.

“Our discussions underscored the importance of structured, transparent and inclusive dialogue in unlocking the vast potential of the mining sector for the benefit of the people of Samburu County,” he said.

The Cs said that the team collectively agreed that the minerals in the area must serve as regional catalyst on development.

“The forum provided an essential platform to clarify government policy on mining and to align national and county priorities. We emphasized the need to ensure that mineral development in the county equitably benefits local communities, attracts responsible investment and contributes meaningfully to national development,” Joho said

The CS was accompanied by the Principal Secretary, Mr. Harry Kimtai, together with senior Ministry officials including Secretary for Administration Mr. David Onyancha, Secretary for Mines Mr. Thomas Mutwiwa, Secretary for Geological Survey Mr. Enoch Kipseba and the Chairperson of the Mineral Rights Board (MRB), Ms. Sophie Kutiti.
