Jamaican singer Shenseea recently took to social media to share highlights from her visit to a vegetable kibanda and a Nairobi club, just one day after expressing frustration over her experience at Raha Fest. During the event, Shenseea was abruptly escorted off stage due to security concerns.

The chaos unfolded when some fans tried to force their way into the venue without tickets, disrupting the event and causing confusion.

In response to the incident, Shenseea tweeted, “Now Kenya, I’m a little mad at you,” which led to an outpouring of apologies from her Kenyan fans online. Unfortunately, Shenseea’s disrupted performance at Raha Fest is not an isolated case in Kenya’s entertainment scene. It is part of an alarming pattern of similar disruptions at recent events.

For example, in early December 2024, Swazi DJ Uncle Waffles also faced a chaotic situation at the ASK Dome in Nairobi, where her much-anticipated performance was marred by disorderly fans who overran security in an attempt to enter the venue without tickets. The situation became so intense that property was damaged and some attendees had to be restrained, causing the event to be halted.

These recurring disruptions highlight a growing challenge for Kenyan event organizers. While the country has become a sought-after destination for international artists due to its large fan base, the lack of adequate infrastructure and poor crowd management are jeopardizing the safety of both performers and ticket-holding attendees.
