President William Ruto has condemned tribal and political divisions, citing that they impede national growth.

The president said that upholding bipartisanship will ensure that the common goal of unity and prosperity is attained in Kenya.

“We have no business with tribalism and political formations, we must work together for the prosperity of the nation,” said Ruto.

He highlighted that political differences will not only continue to create a national rift but also inhibit progress.

“In the life of a nation, there comes a time when the greater interest of the nation, when the progress, prosperity, transformation of the nation is greater than the interests of parties and formations,” Ruto explained.

The head of state Ruto went on to applaud leaders for diligently accepting and encouraging an inclusive broad-based government.

“I commend the leaders who have agreed out of patriotism for us to work together for the greater interests of the nation to forge unity that will give us the opportunity to build synergy and create a bigger transformation of our nation,” he said.

The president persuaded leaders with conflicting views of the bipartisan agreement that the interests of the nation remain at the core of the agenda.

“I want to tell those leaders who still have doubts, there is a moment in the history of a nation when we must come together for the greater good of our nation Kenya and this is such a moment,” said Ruto.

He was speaking during the commissioning of the construction and rehabilitation of Lot 1: Isebania-Kisii (A1) Road in Nyamatoro, Kisii County.

The KSh 14 billion project, financed by African Development Bank (AfDB) in collaboration with the Government of Kenya, will facilitate regional cross border trade between Kenya and Tanzania.

It covers a total of 84Km from Isebania, which is at the border of Kenya and Tanzania, to Kisii Town.

Other facilities packaged in the project include a Modern Market in Migori Town and road side market sheds with a total capacity of 1075 traders.

It has also incorporated Kisii Grade Separated Interchange and a weigh bridge at Awendo.

President Ruto said that the government has set aside an additional KSh 4.5 billion to fund construction of roads within Kisii county to boost agricultural and economic growth.

Today marked the second day of a three-day inspection of development projects by the President in Kisii and Nyamira County.
