Kenyan singer Bien Aime, a member of the popular music group Sauti Sol, has been granted a special visa by the U.S. government known as the O1 visa. This visa is given to people with extraordinary talent in areas like music, arts, or sports. For Bien, it means the U.S. recognizes his talent and success as a singer, songwriter, and performer.
With this visa, Bien is now free to travel in and out of the U.S. for concerts, music collaborations, and other events. His world tour kicks off in two weeks, starting in the U.S. where he’s set to perform in eight states before heading to Europe in July for six more shows.
Bien has made a name for himself with his soulful voice and unique style that blends African sounds with modern music. He’s performed at major international festivals, and his recent show at the Trace Awards in Zanzibar—where he won Best Artist in Eastern Africa—proved his global appeal.
The O1 visa opens doors for him to connect with new audiences and artists in the competitive U.S. music scene. It also comes with benefits—his spouse and children can accompany him and live in the U.S. under the O3 visa category.
This is a big win for Bien and for African music as a whole, showing that local talent can shine on the world stage.
