The Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary (OPCS) together with the Ministry of Interior and National Administration (MINA), is set to kick off Phase II of validation and verification for high-impact government projects in Nyanza and Western regions.The exercise is set to take place between Monday, October 28 and Thursday, October 31, 2024.


The initiative commenced last month in Coastal and Eastern regions will extend to Nairobi, Central, Rift Valley and North Eastern regions. It seeks to assess the status of national projects for the 2023/2024 financial year and ensure that selected projects progress as planned.The team will review projects including the Edible Oil Value Chain Project. This project seeks to enhance processing of edible oils.


The affordable housing project aims at constructing 200,000 houshousing units yearly with Milimani’s construction at 44% completion.The government will also work on 6,000 km of road to enhance regional connectivity and road infrastructure.The Agricultural Crop Insurance project targets two million farmers across 38 countries to help them mitigate risks of crop loss.


Enhancements at Kisumu Airport will include a new control tower in a bid to improving airctraffic management.
Developing technical and vocational institutions will boost local skills training.The Special Economic Zones (SEZs) initiative, i.e Nasewa project in Busia, seeks to attract both local and international investments. Efforts in Migori and Vihiga aim at commercializing mineral resources.


Findings from this initiative will be documented and any challenges encountered will be highlighted and presented to National Development Implementation Committee (NDIC) for further action.This phase of validation is essential for ensuring that government initiatives are on track and effectively serving the needs of the Kenyan population.
