The funeral of the late former Election Commission Chairperson, Chebukati, is set to take place on Saturday, March 8, in his hometown of Kitale. His body arrived in Kitale on Thursday, March 6, following a funeral mass held earlier in Nairobi at CITMA in Karen.

To ensure the ceremony proceeds smoothly, strict security measures have been put in place. The County Commissioner issued a statement outlining important directives for the public to follow during the burial.

One of the key rules is that mourners are prohibited from wearing political clothing or items with political messages. Anyone found in such attire will not be allowed to attend the ceremony. This is in response to concerns about potential disruptions from individuals who may attempt to politicize the event.

The County Commissioner also reassured the public that the event will be well-secured, ensuring the safety and dignity of the proceedings. For those unable to attend in person, a livestream link will be shared, offering a view of the procession and the arrival of the body at Sabata Farm in Kitale. A tribute service and sermon are scheduled for Friday, March 7.

Chebukati, 64, passed away on February 21 at Nairobi Hospital after a brief stay in the Intensive Care Unit. His family shared that he had been battling brain cancer and ultimately succumbed to cardiac arrest.

The community and loved ones will gather to honor his memory and bid farewell to a man who served his country with distinction.
