Security officers have dismantled an illegal alcohol brewing operation in the Bangladesh area of Jomvu Sub-County, Mombasa County, in a multi-agency operation carried out yesterday.

During the raid, the team destroyed several distillation machines used to produce the illicit brew and seized 88 twenty-litre jerricans containing an estimated 1,600 litres of kangara. The recovered items have been secured at the police station as investigations continue.

Authorities say the crackdown is part of ongoing efforts to curb the production and sale of illicit alcohol, which poses serious health and safety risks to the public. Illegal brews are often made in unhygienic conditions and can cause severe health complications, including poisoning and death.

The National Police Service has commended members of the public for their cooperation and timely information that led to the successful operation. Police urged residents to continue reporting illegal brewing activities and other criminal activities to help improve safety in their communities.

Officials reiterated their commitment to intensifying operations against illicit alcohol dens across the region to protect public health and maintain law and order.
