Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja today led a high-level meeting of police commanders at the National Police Leadership Academy (NPLA) in Ngong’.

Joined by his deputies Eliud Lagat and Gilbert Masengeli, and DCI boss Mohammed Amin, the IG met with top commanders from across the country to review progress and set priorities for the National Police Service.

The meeting focused on leadership, accountability, working with communities, and improving how police interact with the public.

Quoting former President Mwai Kibaki, IG Kanja reminded commanders that leadership is a chance to improve people’s lives. He stressed that police must serve with fairness, respect, and integrity.

He urged all commanders to lead by example and fully implement the NPS Strategic Plan 2023–2027, noting the importance of regular reviews and open communication in achieving high standards.

IG Kanja said the Service is committed to building a people-first police force that is professional, trusted, and effective.
