The Inspector General of Police, Mr. Douglas Kanja, today held a high-level meeting with the Kamukunji Sub-County security team at their headquarters, where he was briefed on the prevailing security situation in the area.

During the visit, IG Kanja assured the officers of his unwavering support in efforts to combat insecurity. He also inspected the station’s facilities, identifying urgent areas that need intervention—especially housing for police officers—which he said was crucial in improving service delivery.

Addressing the press, IG Kanja responded to the recent murder of the late Kasipul Member of Parliament. He confirmed that police have already apprehended ten suspects linked to the killing.

However, he dismissed allegations suggesting that a senior government official was involved in the murder.“We urge Kenyans to remain calm and allow investigators to carry out a thorough and professional investigation,” he said.In an address to officers stationed within the Sub-County, the IG emphasized the need to restore public trust through ethical conduct and service excellence.

He encouraged officers to take personal responsibility for their roles, stressing that integrity, impartiality, and adherence to the rule of law are critical in earning public confidence.“Public trust is not demanded; it is earned through consistent, fair, and professional service,” he stated.

IG Kanja also highlighted the importance of inter-agency collaboration and community engagement in achieving national security goals and improving policing outcomes.

Accompanying the IG was Deputy Inspector General of the Administration Police Service, Mr. Gilbert Masengeli, who praised the officers for their resilience and dedication despite numerous challenges.

Other senior officials present included APS Director of Logistics Kisyungu Wambua, Director of Corporate Communications, Muchiri Nyaga, Deputy County Commissioner Fredrick Muli, Sub-County Police Commander Samuel Kamau, Sub-County Criminal Investigations Officer Simon Kirui, and AP Commander Kamukunji Musa Bishar, among others.

The meeting underscored the leadership’s commitment to improving police welfare and enhancing public safety across the country.
