Residents of Kiptenden farm in Chepsiro/Kiptoror ward of Cherang’any Constituency in Trans Nzoia County are living in great fear following attacks from aggressive rabies infected dogs.

So far, the dangerous dogs have bitten twelve people. The latest incident is where a mother and her 2-year-old daughter were bitten by one male dog on Wednesday, May 22 May when they were going home from the shopping center.

The two family members are undergoing treatment at Ziwa Sub County Hospital in Soy Constituency Uasin Gishu County.

Confirming the incident, Kibuswo sub location Assistant Chief, Gilbert Chepsiror said the dogs pose a serious health challenge to the residents.

"Chebarus, Moiben and Kapchumba villages are the most affected. Areas. Apart from the two people who are on medication, 10 others have received medication in various health facilities. The dogs have also killed three cows while another one is being monitored by veterinary doctors," Chepsiror said.

The administrator revealed that although they have notified the veterinary officers, the officers are yet to take any action to curb the spread of the deadly disease to other villages.

"While we wait for an action from the veterinary department, we have resolved to come out and kill all the dogs that have been infected with rabies. Right now, we have killed a total of five dogs and we are still pursuing more," he stated.
