ICT Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to advancing science and technology through the Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (Kenya-AIST).
Speaking after a meeting with a delegation from Kenya-AIST led by Chairperson Prof. Mutisya, CS Kabogo emphasized the critical role of Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) in driving Kenya’s economic transformation.
The Kenya-AIST programme is designed to train exceptional scientists and engineers in key development sectors, aligning with the country’s Vision 2030 agenda of modernizing Kenya into a middle-income economy.

During the meeting, CS Kabogo highlighted the need for strong collaborations between Kenya-AIST and private sector players to ensure local innovations are widely adopted across various industries.
“We are keen on operationalizing Kenya-AIST in a way that allows our young innovators to contribute meaningfully to different sectors.

Science and technology are essential in fast-tracking Kenya’s economic progress, and partnerships with private industry will ensure that our innovations have real-world applications,” said Kabogo.

Also present at the meeting were Principal Secretary for ICT and Digital Economy John Tanui and members of the Kenya-AIST Council. Discussions centered on strategies to enhance research, strengthen technology-driven solutions, and position Kenya as a hub for scientific advancement in Africa.
