Mary Biketi has spoken out to dispel persistent rumors suggesting she relies solely on Cabinet Secretary and former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya to fund her lifestyle.
In a recent radio interview, Biketi firmly stated that while Oparanya is part of her life, she is financially stable on her own and actively runs her own business. She emphasized that their relationship is built on mutual respect, not financial dependency.
“People need to understand that I’m not just sitting around waiting for money,” she said. “Yes, he supported me in setting up my business, but I work hard. I pay my bills. I contribute. I’m not living off him.”
Biketi also opened up about how she and the veteran politician met, calling their first encounter a stroke of fate. She described it as a chance meeting that blossomed into something meaningful — but one that doesn’t define her independence.
“I didn’t go looking for a politician. Life just happened, and our paths crossed,” she added. “But I have always stood on my own two feet.”
Her remarks come after a wave of online speculation, with some social media users claiming she owed her success to Oparanya’s influence and finances. Biketi, however, is making it clear: behind the headlines is a woman who is confident, capable, and carving her own path.
