Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs, Hassan Ali Joho, has welcomed renowned actress Kate Walsh to Kenya for the 11th edition of the Our Ocean Conference currently taking place in Mombasa.
In a statement shared on social media, Joho expressed delight at Walsh’s participation in the global conference, describing her presence as a significant boost to efforts aimed at promoting ocean conservation and the sustainable use of marine resources.
“We recognize Kate for her invaluable contribution to the creative economy and appreciate her presence at this conference,” Joho said.
He noted that Walsh’s attendance highlights the importance of international collaboration in addressing challenges facing oceans and marine ecosystems across the world.
According to the Cabinet Secretary, the conference provides a platform for governments, conservationists, private sector players and development partners to discuss practical solutions for protecting oceans while harnessing the economic opportunities available within the blue economy.
Joho emphasized that sustainable management of marine resources is critical to unlocking the immense economic potential of ocean spaces for both current and future generations.
