Githurai police have arrested a 59-year-old man who is alleged to have fatally stabbed his wife in a domestic quarrel in Mwihoko, Kiambu County.

The suspect, by the name of Charles Maina Karungae Kibue, was arrested at a hideout in Kayole after the detectives mounted a manhunt for him.

The incident took place on June 14, 2026.

According to police reports, a domestic confrontation occured at Wambui’s shop in the Delta area of Mwihoko Township. The suspect, in an unprovoked manner, attacked the wife with a spearhead and stabbed her on the right side of the chest.

Upon arrival, police officers found the woman lying in a pool of blood with grievous wounds. She was taken to Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital (KUTRRH), where, unfortunately, she was declared dead on the spot.

A postmortem examination will be carried out at Kenyatta University Funeral Home, where her body has been moved.

The police recovered from the scene the suspected murder weapon, a bloodstained spearhead, and kept it as evidence.

After following the forensic evidence, detectives managed to locate and capture Kibue, who escaped right after the incident. He is currently remanded in police custody undergoing investigation before being arraigned in court.
