Citizen TV has firmly denied reports circulating online that its Editorial Director Linus Kaikai has been fired.
On Wednesday, June 25, social media platforms circulated claims that Kaikai had been sacked over what was described as “skewed coverage of protests.”
The false reports also alleged that Kaikai had connections to civil society groups accused of plotting to destabilize the government assertions that caused a wave of speculation.
In an immediate response, Citizen TV flagged the claims as fake news and urged the public to disregard them.
“Treat this FAKE NEWS with the contempt it deserves,” the station posted across its official social media platforms.
Kaikai is among the respected journalists in the country and one of the most prominent editorial voices in Kenyan media.
He has not issued a personal statement, but the station’s response is clear that he remains in his position.
