Kenya’s opponents at the 2024 Africa Nations Championship are expected to start arriving in the country from Friday this week, 8 days to the start of the tournament to be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
Following a final inspection of Kenya’s hosting and training venues for the Africa Nations Championship, CAF has given the venues a green light to welcome the teams that will play in group A of the tournament running from 2nd to 30th August.
Harambee Stars will face tough competition in Group A against the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Morocco, Zambia, and Angola. The teams are scheduled to begin jetting into the country just over a week before the tournament begins, with Kenya playing host to Group A matches.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has given the green light to Kenya’s match and training venues following a final inspection. Nairobi’s Kasarani and Nyayo stadiums have both been approved to host official matches, while training facilities such as the Police Sacco Stadium have also met CAF’s standards, with lighting systems at the latter now fully operational.
Kenya will face DRC in the group’s opening fixture on August 3, marking the beginning of what promises to be an electrifying tournament. A total of 19 nations will compete for the CHAN 2024 title, currently held by Senegal.
The arrival of the teams marks a critical milestone in Kenya’s return to hosting major continental football events, with fans and players alike hoping the home advantage will spur Harambee Stars to a strong showing.
