The Harambee Starlets have secured their place in the second round of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers after defeating Tunisia 1-0 in their second-leg match today in Sousse, Tunisia.
Kenya’s sole goal came in the third minute from Treza Engesha. Despite Tunisia’s efforts to equalize, they missed two penalty kicks in each half.
Harambee Starlets goalkeeper Lilian Awuor, who plays professionally in Romania, was named Player of the Match after saving both penalties, keeping Kenya’s hopes alive throughout the game.
The first leg, played last Friday at Ulinzi Complex in Nairobi, ended in a goalless draw.
With this victory, the Starlets will now face Gambia in the final round of qualifiers.
Kenya is aiming to return to the continental tournament for the first time since their debut appearance in the 2016 edition.
