Treasury Cabinet Secretary Hon. John Mbadi has proposed a total of KSh 21.9 billion toward combating major infectious diseases and improving national immunization coverage.

While presenting the 2025/2026 Budget Statement in Parliament, CS Mbadi announced that KSh 17.3 billion will be allocated to the Global Fund, which supports programs targeting HIV, AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis.

“To lower cases of HIV, AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis, and enhance vaccines and immunisation programmes in the country, I have proposed KSh 17.3 billion for the Global Fund,” said CS Mbadi.

In addition, the government has earmarked KSh 4.6 billion specifically for vaccines and immunisation programmes, in line with its Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda.

These allocations are part of the broader national effort to improve health outcomes, reduce disease burden, and ensure access to preventive healthcare services, particularly for vulnerable populations.

CS Mbadi emphasized that the investment in disease control and prevention is critical not just for health, but for the country’s productivity and economic resilience.

“A healthier population translates into a more productive nation,” he added.
