Governor Wavinya Ndeti has officially handed over a title deed to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) for a 20-acre parcel of land in Machakos, earmarked for the construction of a state-of-the-art Technical Training Centre.
This marks a significant milestone in the federation’s efforts to enhance football development in Kenya.
The handover ceremony saw Governor Wavinya and FKF President Hussein Mohammed formally sign the title deed.
The proposed centre, situated on the outskirts of Machakos town, is set to play a vital role in nurturing talent, elevating coaching standards, and preparing national teams for international competitions.
“This facility will greatly contribute to the growth and strengthening of football in Kenya. Our vision is to see Machakos become the headquarters of FKF,” said Mohammed.
Governor Wavinya reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to supporting the initiative, highlighting broader plans to improve the county’s sports infrastructure—including the construction of a Level Six hospital to cater to athletes’ health needs.
“We are committed to providing a conducive environment for the federation’s activities. This initiative will not only benefit Machakos residents but also have a national impact,” she stated.
“Alongside the technical centre, we also plan to build a Level Six hospital dedicated to supporting athletes,” she added.
The upcoming Technical Training Centre is a FIFA-funded project, projected to cost Ksh 600 million. Once complete, it will serve as a national hub for player development, coach training, and sports science.
The facility will include one natural grass pitch, two artificial turf pitches, and an administrative block with offices and conference rooms.
