Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya has confirmed that the government is working on creating a tamper-proof recruitment process for uniformed officers.

Speaking at Ematsuli Church of God in Emuhaya, Vihiga County, Tuya emphasized that once finalized, the new standard recruitment process will be made public in an effort to address ongoing allegations of malpractice and favouritism in the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) recruitment.

“We have heard the complaints and murmurs, and we are refining the process to minimize these malpractices,” The CS stated.

Tuya also assured that the recruitment process across various services will reflect Kenya’s diverse population.

Despite attracting thousands of young, eager applicants at recruitment centres nationwide, the process has faced persistent allegations of bribery, nepotism, and favouritism.

Additionally, conmen have exploited weaknesses in the process, defrauding Kenyans by promising to help them join the forces for a fee.

The CS also underscored the importance of unity for national development, stressing that fostering unity is the responsibility of every citizen and leader.
