Following growing public debate and concern from medical interns, the Ministry of Health has clarified the salary structure for newly posted intern doctors.
The ministry has confirmed that posting letters indicates a basic salary of KSh 46,120 per month.
However, once allowances under job group CSG 9 (JG ‘L’) are factored in, the total monthly pay rises to approximately KSh 208,000.
The clarification comes amid mounting frustration among interns who have been pushing for fair pay and timely deployment.
The ministry has urged patience and assured interns that all dues will be honoured in accordance with public service pay structures.
