Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards face off today at 3pm in a high-stakes Mashemeji Derby at the Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay—the 97th meeting between the fierce rivals and the first-ever in the county.

The clash could decide the FKF Premier League title, with President William Ruto and Opposition Leader Raila Odinga expected in attendance following Madaraka Day celebrations.

Gor Mahia sit second with 55 points, six behind leaders Kenya Police FC, who have played one more match. A loss today would hand the title to Police, while Gor must win all three remaining matches and hope Police slip up to retain their crown.

Postponed from May 11 due to stadium renovations, the derby now kicks off Gor’s final push.

They face Ulinzi Stars on Thursday, before a possible title decider against Kenya Police on June 15. Police, meanwhile, play Shabana on Wednesday before that finale.

Leopards, out of the title race, are motivated by pride and coach Fred Ambani’s unbeaten record against Gor. “It’s about bragging rights, not just points,” he said.

Gor will lean on midfielders Austin Odhiambo and Alpha Onyango, and striker Benson Omala, while Zico Otieno may field Shariff Musa and Enock Morisson on the wings.

AFC Leopards will look to Musa Oundo in midfield and top scorer Victor Omune up front.

Leopards last beat Gor 2–1 in May 2023, while Gor won the most recent encounter 1–0 in April this year.
