A planned visit by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to Thika has been postponed, with organisers promising to announce a new date soon.
Former Thika Town MP Patrick Wainaina, popularly known as Jungle, said the tour scheduled for Tuesday, April 14, would not go on as planned due to unavoidable circumstances.
Wainaina apologised to residents for the abrupt change but thanked them for their continued support, urging them to remain patient as new arrangements are made.
The visit was expected to be part of a growing wave of political activity in Thika, as leaders begin early mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general election.
Wainaina, who previously served as MP for Thika Town Constituency, has already declared his intention to reclaim the seat in 2027 with Democracy for Citizen’s Party after shifting focus from an earlier gubernatorial bid.
His renewed push has set the stage for a competitive race in the constituency, currently represented by Alice Ng’ang’a.
Gachagua’s planned visit was seen as a significant political moment, likely aimed at consolidating support in the Mt Kenya region, where he still commands influence following his fallout with President William Ruto.
