Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has called out ex Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over his contentious comments regarding the 2007/2008 post-election violence.

The controversy arose after Gachagua warned in a recent interview that if the 2027 elections are rigged, Kenya could face a political crisis worse than the 2007/08 violence, describing the earlier violence as a “Christmas party” compared to what might happen in 2027

In a short video posted on Saturday morning, Sudi warned Gachagua against making reckless and inflammatory statements that could incite Kenyans.

While acknowledging that freedom of expression is a constitutional right afforded to all Kenyans, including Gachagua, Sudi emphasized that this right should not be exploited to make irresponsible or unethical remarks, especially about such a sensitive chapter in Kenya’s history.

"Please, do not talk about 2007/2008, it seems you do not know what you are saying. Our people suffered what has never been witnessed. Ask for votes, criticise all government officials, but do not engage in 2007/2008 conversation. You are becoming too reckless, you are not a leader. That is why you are a half-term DP," said Sudi.

Sudi further argued that Gachagua’s careless and disparaging comments justified his impeachment in 2024.
