Four people, including a four-and-a-half-year-old girl, died in a tragic road accident on Friday night when a private vehicle collided head-on with a school bus at Mutwot along the Kapsabet-Eldoret Road.
According to police, the accident occurred at around 8:00 PM. A Toyota Hiace heading to Eldoret from Kapsabet swerved into the opposite lane after the driver lost control, crashing into a Cheptabach Secondary School bus, an Isuzu with registration number KDA 911Y, which was traveling toward Kapsabet.
The crash claimed the lives of four occupants of the private vehicle: the male driver, two male passengers, and a young girl.
Several passengers from both vehicles sustained injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals.
The deceased were moved to Samaritan Funeral Home in Kapsabet for identification and post-mortem.
Meanwhile, the vehicles’ wreckage was towed to Mosoriot Police Station for inspection as investigations continue.
