Dr. Nancy Macharia, the immediate former Chief Executive Officer of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), has turned down a county appointment by Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata, citing a new opportunity at the international level.
Macharia had been nominated to serve as the Chairperson of the Murang’a County Public Service Board, a key role in managing public appointments and human resource policies within the county.
Her nomination, which was to be vetted by the County Assembly’s Governance, Labour and Social Welfare, and Justice and Legal Affairs Committee, came shortly after she exited her national role at TSC earlier this month.
The committee was expected to table a report within 21 days from June 17.
However, in a communication dated June 25, Dr. Macharia formally declined the offer.
“I decline the post because I have received another offer from an international body, which, in my opinion, will affect my performance as the Chair of the said Board,” she stated.
Governor Kang’ata had also nominated Dr. Louis Mwende Musikali, Johnson Kang’ethe Kinyua, and Dr. Brian Lishenga Makamu as members of the County Public Service Board.
Additionally, Oscar Kimani Gathura was proposed for the role of Secretary to the Board.
