Nyeri United Men’s Volleyball Team delivered an outstanding performance at the recently concluded Kipchumba Karori International Tournament, which attracted over 170 teams nationwide.
The Kenya Volleyball Federation applauded the team for its dedication, under the leadership of chairman Jacob Munene, to revitalize volleyball in Nyeri County.
The team’s impressive journey to the semi-finals featured exciting victories over Kakamega Kings in the Round of 32, Itigo in the Round of 16, and Kaiboi in the quarter-finals.
Despite their strong run, Nyeri United was defeated by JEVIC in the semi-finals.
They then competed in the third-place playoffs, ultimately securing 4th place and a cash prize of Ksh50,000.
The team’s success also underscores the significant contributions of Mzee Kungu Maitu, whose unwavering passion and support for the sport have played a key role in its growth.
The Federation recognized his efforts, along with those of Munene, for their ongoing work to strengthen volleyball in the region.
“Their dedication continues to build a solid foundation for the sport and inspire the next generation of players,” the Federation remarked.
