Dadaab Member of Parliament Farah Maalim is unmoved by his expulsion from the Wiper Party, which sponsored him to the National Assembly in the 2022 polls.

In an announcement on Wednesday, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka announced Maalim’s expulsion for allegedly violating the Constitution and the rights of Kenyans.

"For the avoidance of doubt, Farah Maalim, who until now has been serving as deputy party leader of Wiper Democratic Party, stands expelled from the party for violating the Constitution and the rights of Kenyans and even abusing Kenyan mothers," said Kalonzo.

However, reacting to his expulsion, Maalim termed the move inconsequential, adding he is not interested in the outfit, having resigned as its deputy party leader months ago.

"The statement has zero consequences for me. I am not interested in Wiper, in any case, I resigned months ago as Wiper deputy party leader,’’ said Maalim.

The MP said during his stint at the party, he had helped it grow into a national outfit due to his hard work.

Notably, under the 2010 Constitution, a member does not automatically lose a parliamentary seat by being expelled from a political party.

“You can expel me as a member of the party, but you have not expelled me as a Member of Parliament,’’ Maalim told Musyoka.
