Renowned radio and TV host Eric Latiff has officially announced his exit from the Standard Media Group, marking the end of his four-and-a-half-year tenure with the Mombasa Road-based media station.

In a heartfelt statement released on Monday morning, January 6, Latiff expressed gratitude to his colleagues at Spice FM and the wider Standard Media Group, reflecting on his time with Kenya’s oldest private media house.

“On this 6th day of January 2025, my heart is heavy as I bid kwaheri to the brilliant team of colleagues at Spice FM and the Standard Group. I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of Kenya’s oldest private media house again and I am proud of the teams I leave behind in radio, TV, and print,” he said.

Latiff reminisced about his journey, starting in August 2019, when Spice FM was launched.

He recalled the first day in the studio alongside his colleagues, CT Muga, Ndu Okoh, and Njeri Thorne, and the challenge of building a morning talk show that would resonate with listeners.

“At exactly 6 AM on August 20, 2019, four people entered a brand-new studio and started a journey along an uncharted path,” he shared. “The four of us, with CT Muga, Ndu Okoh, and Njeri Thorne, took on the new assignment with dedication and a true belief that we could do it.”

Latiff also acknowledged the behind-the-scenes team, including producer Brian Evusa, programme controller Brian Obara, and Radio General Manager Tom Japanni, for their support in growing The Situation Room into a flagship show.

Expressing appreciation for the audience, he said, “The biggest part of this show has been the audience who tune in on radio, TV, or digital platforms. It’s humbling whenever people reach out on calls, texts, or approach us with compliments, comments, and suggestions for the show.”

Apart from hosting The Situation Room, Latiff was also a familiar face on KTN News, anchoring news bulletins.

While he has not disclosed his next career move, Latiff assured his followers that he would share updates in due course.

Latiff’s departure marks the end of an era at Spice FM, leaving behind a legacy of excellence in broadcasting and a loyal audience that has grown to appreciate his unique style and dedication to meaningful conversations.
