Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen inspected the progress of the National Police Service Housing Project at the National Police College, Embakasi

The Housing Projects in various parts of the country demonstrate government’s commitment to improving the welfare of men and women in uniform.

According to Murkomen, the housing programme has 150-unit block, which is nearing completion, a mix of studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments to accommodate officers across all cadres.

“This initiative is part of a broader plan to ensure our men and women in uniform live in decent conditions. Housing is not just about shelter — it’s about dignity, morale, and operational readiness,” said Murkomen.

Murkomen noted that the government has reserved 20 percent of the Affordable Housing Programme units for members of the Kenya Defence Forces, National Police Service, National Youth Service, and Kenya Prisons Service, who will also benefit from affordable credit facilities.

These officers will also benefit from accessible and affordable credit facilities to acquire homes.

The housing programme is one of several welfare initiatives aimed at motivating security officers, improving retention rates, and enhancing the overall efficiency of service delivery within the National Police Service.
