Tanzanian singer Zuchu has confirmed she is married to Diamond Platnumz after quietly updating her Instagram bio to read “Mrs Nasib”, referring to Diamond’s real name, Nasibu Abdul Juma.
The subtle change, spotted by her 6.8 million followers, has reignited public interest and speculation about the couple’s relationship, which has often made headlines due to its rocky nature.
Her confirmation comes after weeks of swirling rumours that Diamond had allegedly issued three Islamic divorces—talaq—to her. The claims shocked fans, especially since the couple had never publicly declared that they were officially married.
Zuchu, best known for her hit song Sukari, now appears to be claiming her place as Diamond’s legal wife.
Diamond himself added fuel to the conversation with a cryptic Instagram post, suggesting he had been married but chose to remain silent while facing accusations in the public eye.
“One of the things I’ve learnt is the maturity of keeping quiet,” he wrote. “This maturity requires immense patience when people accuse you falsely, and you carry the truth silently within you it’s not easy. But I thank God for giving me the wisdom to endure that kind of silence.”
He went on to explain that his silence was deliberate, saying he avoids interviews and lets God handle his battles. Ending the post, he hinted at a bigger story to come.
“I know each of you has a different image of Diamond Platnumz and marriage. But today, I want to say that Diamond Platnumz has already married. One day, I’ll tell you how it unfolded.”
Providing some clarity, regional Islamic cleric Sheikh Walid Kawambwa told the media that he officiated the couple’s nikah (Islamic wedding) five months ago. He denied knowledge of any divorce.
“Yes, I solemnised their marriage five months ago. As for the talk about divorce, I am not aware of that. If they had divorced, Diamond would have informed me,” he said.
The revelation has brought new attention to the couple’s relationship, which dates back to 2021 and has been marked by breakups, public affection, and constant speculation.
In November 2024, they publicly split, but soon after, reports emerged that they were planning a wedding ahead of Ramadan 2025.
Doubts resurfaced after Diamond’s appearance at fellow artist Juma Jux’s wedding, where his flirtatious behaviour drew criticism.
Adding to the confusion, Zuchu’s mother, legendary singer Khadija Kopa, had previously dismissed talk of marriage, saying unresolved issues around bride price needed to be addressed.
With Zuchu now identifying as “Mrs Nasib” and a cleric confirming the marriage, fans are once again left wondering what the future holds for one of East Africa’s most talked-about celebrity couples.
