Two people have been arrested in Migori after they were found with elephant tusks worth around KSh 1.8 million.
The pair a woman and a man were caught on Tuesday, August 6, during a joint operation by police and Kenya Wildlife Service officers in the Namba area of Suna East.
Officers stopped their motorcycle and found six tusks weighing nearly 19 kilos hidden in a sack. The woman was carrying the sack while the man was riding.
Both suspects are in police custody and will face charges.
Authorities say they’re working to stop wildlife trafficking and therefore they ask Kenyans to collaborate and report any suspicious activities.
