Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi joined India in celebrating its 77th Republic Day at the Indian High Commission in Nairobi. He used the occasion to highlight the strong and historic ties between Kenya and India.
In his address at the event, Mudavadi praised the partnership between the Government and people of India that has been based on mutual respect and cooperation for a long time. He said that India is the worlds most populous country, the largest democracy, and one of the fastest, growing major economies which is why its influence is on the rise globally.
Mudavadi acknowledged that the relationship between Kenya and India is very old as it dates back several centuries. He said the bond nowadays is getting deepened by sharing the same values, increased people, to, people contacts and broadening of economic cooperation.
Highlighting the continuous support by India to Kenya, he cited the humanitarian gesture of facilitating the repatriation of the mortal remains of Kenyan nationals as a symbol of trust, friendship and solidarity between the two countries.
Moreover, he emphasized the common strategic and economic interests and pointed out the necessity of cooperation in trade, investment, technology and regional stability as both countries aim at inclusive growth.
