Former presidential candidate Ekuru Aukot has proposed tax relief for low-income earners.
He said this while on Citizen Tv interview where he maintained that majority of Kenyans are suffering and should not be taxed.
He said that president Ruto would waive taxes to anyone earning a monthly salary of above ksh 50,000.
“If I were the president, I wouldn’t tax anyone earning below KSh 50,000. Kenyans are struggling to survive, yet some people in government seem to have little to no brains. Hopefully, Kenyans will rethink their leadership choices in the 2027 elections,” Aukot stated, in remarks that add to the growing public debate over taxation and governance ahead of the next general election.
