The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested a senior clerical officer at the Kericho County Lands Registry for allegedly soliciting and receiving a bribe of Ksh210,000.

Dallington Kipkurui Mutai was apprehended by EACC officers from the South Rift Regional Office during a sting operation, following multiple complaints from members of the public.

According to the EACC, Mutai allegedly demanded the bribe to facilitate the processing of title deeds for two land parcels. Residents had accused the clerk of routinely demanding “facilitation fees” before initiating title deed documentation.

He was taken to Kericho Police Station for processing and was later released on a cash bail of Ksh50,000 as investigations continue.

The Commission has reiterated its commitment to taking action against public officials who exploit citizens through corrupt practices.
