Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale on Monday held talks with senior officials from the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), focusing on how to fast-track two major hospital projects meant to boost access to specialized care in the country.
The team, led by Dr. Abdullah Almusaibeeh, met Duale at Afya House to review progress on the upcoming Paediatric Emergency and Burns Centre at Kenyatta National Hospital and the Kisii Cancer Treatment Centre both of which are being funded by BADEA.
“These projects are a big step forward in our journey toward Universal Health Coverage,” Duale said during the meeting. “They will bring essential care closer to families who’ve had to travel far for treatment, or worse, go without it.”
He noted that the Ministry would move quickly to finalize any remaining paperwork, launch pending construction phases, and stick to a clear project timeline to ensure both facilities are ready on time and properly equipped.
The CS also praised BADEA for sticking with Kenya’s health agenda and supporting long-term development across Africa.
He was joined by Medical Services Principal Secretary Dr. Ouma Oluga, Kenyatta National Hospital CEO Dr. William Sigilai, Project Implementation Unit chair James Ntabo, and other officials involved in the projects.
