Golfers will have one last chance to qualify for the 2025 NCBA Golf Series Grand Finale during the Nyahururu Golf Club Monthly Mug on Saturday, marking the start of another action-packed weekend on the local golfing calendar.
The Nyahururu Mug will serve as a mini-qualifier, following the conclusion of the main qualifying rounds last weekend at Muthaiga Golf Club, where six players secured their places in the season-ending finale.
This weekend’s event represents the final opportunity for golfers to earn a coveted spot in the Grand Finale, scheduled for Saturday, November 28, at Muthaiga Golf Club.
At the Muthaiga leg last weekend, junior golfer Brianna Ngecu delivered a remarkable performance to clinch the Overall Lady Winner title.
The 13-year-old, playing off a handicap of 10, carded an impressive 81 strokes to outplay her rivals and book her place in the upcoming Grand Finale.
In the men’s category, Quram Bhatti (handicap +1) produced an exceptional round of 71 gross to claim the Overall Men’s Winner title, edging Bhavnish Chandaria on countback.
In Division Two, Christine Ng’ang’a and Ravi Patel emerged as the Ladies’ and Men’s winners after posting 42 and 41 points, respectively.
Wanjiku Mbuthi topped Division Three with 39 points, while Maina Kaniu claimed victory in the Junior Category with 40 points. Edwin Olweny and Daniel Chege were named the Guest and Staff Winners, respectively.
Meanwhile, over 160 golfers are set to compete in the Kiambu Golf Club Captain’s Prize on Saturday. The event caps off a busy tournament week that has already featured the Clergy and Friends Day, Juniors’ Day, Seniors’ Tournament, and a Special Curtain-Raiser, setting the stage for the main competition. The celebrations will continue Monday with the Caddies’ Tournament.
In other news, the Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) Series moves to Eldoret Golf Club this weekend for the Manchester Salver, running from Friday through Sunday.
