Comedian and media personality Dr. Ofweneke has stirred the internet again after sharing his candid thoughts on women’s beauty standards and spending habits. In a post on Instagram that quickly went viral, Ofweneke urged women to stop putting themselves under pressure to look “expensive” since most men can’t tell the difference between high-end hair and cheap substitutes.
The entertainer wrote:“Dear women, just smell nice, look clean. STOP killing yourself to look expensive. These men don’t even know the difference between Brazilian hair and goat hair. Just be clean.”
It sent ripples across social media, from hysterical laughter to intense debate. Many women appreciated his honesty and furthered the point that beauty has become unnecessarily expensive-especially with the increasing influence of social media standards.
Others, however, felt that the comedian oversimplified the pressure women have to maintain certain looks, especially in those industries or spaces where appearance plays a major factor. Men, on their part, humorously confirmed Ofweneke’s statement, as many admitted never to have differentiated between Brazilian, Peruvian, or “whatever-other-country” hair on the market.
