Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service, Mr. Eliud Lagat, on Monday evening paid an unannounced visit to Kabete Police Station in Nairobi as part of his ongoing inspection tours across the country.
Arriving at about 7:20 p.m., DIG Lagat was received by Dagoretti Sub-County Police Commander SSP Kivinda Kilonzo and the Sub-County Criminal Investigations Officer SP Adan Bagaja.
During the visit, he inspected several critical areas within the station, including the Report and Inquiry Office, the Gender and Children Office, the Armoury, Traffic Offices, and the male and female holding cells.
Speaking after the tour, Mr. Lagat praised the officers for their service, noting that their vigilance had helped maintain law and order in the community.
“I commend you for your dedication, vigilance, and professionalism in service delivery. The work you are doing here is commendable,” he said.
However, he urged officers to step up their fight against rising cases of petty crimes, particularly mobile phone thefts that have increasingly troubled residents.
“We must intensify operations against crimes such as phone snatching, which remains a major challenge in this area,” he emphasised.
The DIG also reassured officers of the government’s support, saying that the National Police Service remains focused on improving working conditions and strengthening community-policing initiatives.
“The welfare of our officers is a priority. We will continue to enhance service delivery to the public and strengthen community partnerships to ensure safer neighbourhoods,” he added.
