President William Ruto on Monday, February 3, held a lengthy phone call conversation with the United Kingdom’s His Majesty King Charles III.

In the convo, the two leaders discussed Kenya’s long-standing and close ties with the United Kingdom.

They also talked about regional peace and security amid the ongoing clashes in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). President Ruto explained to King Charles III Kenya’s pivotal role in maintaining stability across the East Africa region.

Further, the duo’s conversation also focused on the contentious issue of climate change, with Ruto praising the two countries’ mutual passion for nature and climate conservation.

"I have had a telephone conversation with His Majesty King Charles III of the United Kingdom. We discussed Kenya’s long-standing and close ties with the United Kingdom. I am glad that Kenya and the United Kingdom have a shared passion for nature and climate conservation. We also discussed regional peace and security and Kenya’s role," said Ruto.
