The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has launched a full-scale investigation into allegations of human organ trafficking at Mediheal Hospital’s Fertility and Transplant Centre in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.
The Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) has taken over the case to consolidate multiple reports filed at various police stations and DCI offices across the North Rift region.
The move signals a major escalation in efforts to unravel the extent of the alleged trafficking scheme.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the DCI said TOCU will harmonize all previously recorded statements, take fresh testimonies from victims, suspects, and any persons with relevant information, and apply forensic analysis to support the investigation.
“Any individuals, victims or otherwise who possess information that could aid the investigation are urged to present themselves to the Head of TOCU at the DCI Headquarters, Block B, to record their statements,” the agency stated.
While the DCI did not disclose the number of potential victims involved, the nature of the allegations has sparked public concern, especially given Mediheal’s prominent role in transplant and fertility services.
The DCI assured the public of its commitment to conducting the probe with the highest level of professionalism, aiming to deliver justice swiftly and fairly to all affected parties.
