Jamaican dancehall singer Adijah “Vybz Kartel” Palmer and his three co-defendants have been freed after almost 13 years in jail.
Vybz Kartel, Shawn Campbell, Kahira Jones, and Andre St. John were released shortly after.
In the ruling, the court said that there was sufficient evidence to suggest that Vybz would not be able to complete a longer sentence if there were to be a retrial, citing his deteriorating health.
Remarkably, the dancehall star continued to produce music while incarcerated, including the 2016 single “Fever.”
