Content creator Dan Wema has come to Eric’s defense, after spreading rumors of alleged misuse of funds for burial of the late Ojiwang. In an emotional social media post, Dan appreciated Eric for his unwavering spirit in philanthropic gestures and assured him that his “heart for philanthropy is shining bright,” inspite of the “unverified allegations” being made against him to tarnish his reputation.
Wema was shocked at how quickly the public can turn on those trying to do good, blaming “unprofessional bloggers” for seeking influence and opinions rather than pointing out the good that Eric’s charitable actions have done—such as his popular initiative Sisi kwa Sisi.
“Why should we not be celebrating the fact that Erick raised over KES 9M for the suffering Githurai mama?” he asked, highlighting one of many life-changing initiatives led by Omondi. He also recounted a personal experience—how Eric enabled land purchase for Malaa Kangundo Road orphans.
Wema stressed the importance of honouring heroes while they’re still alive and warned against using social media to discredit people doing genuine work. “Raising funds online is not easy. You’re met with insults and ridicule,” he wrote, “but God’s grace is sufficient.”
Referencing the Bible in his final remarks, Wema encouraged Eric and his followers not to tire of doing good: “To all who support Erick, may your pockets never run dry! Sema Ameeeen!”
