Comedian and Kenyan media personality Oga Obinna is celebrating a big courtroom win after he was awarded Ksh 6 million in a defamation case against Black Cinderella, Masawe Japanni, and Radio Jambo, Radio Africa Group.

Taking to Instagram, Obinna shared his excitement and thanked his lawyer, Wilis Otieno, famously known as PikipikiPonki for delivering justice. The elated entertainer wrote,

“6 Million easy! Major shoutout to my loya Wakili Wilis Otieno. Good job! I have finally got money to build the foundation of my house. We’ll build this house with haterz’ tears!

Mboho claimed the matter began over some defamatory words from Black Cinderella, who he said discussed him on a Radio Jambo show hosted by Masawe Japanni without presenting any evidence. He stated that the comments tarnished his personality both online and offline, adding that that is why he filed the case.

According to the court documents, the defendants were ordered to pay the following damages amounting to a total of Ksh 6 million:

Ksh 5 million in general damages

Ksh 500,000 in aggravated damages.

Ksh 500,000 in lieu of an apology

a. Ksh 100,000 as exemplary damages

The court further issued a permanent injunction restraining them from making further defamatory remarks against the comedian.

Obinna used the moment to send a warning to online critics who spread unverified information, saying:

“Moral of the story: keep defaming people online without evidence, one by one you’ll pay through the nose.”
