Coastal leaders have rallied behind the Social Health Insurance (SHA) fund, dismissing former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s sentiments as misleading to the public.
Speaking during the Sadaqah contribution for the Msambweni Madrasa Teachers Association at Jomo Kenyatta Primary School grounds in Msambweni, Kwale County, Sports and Youth Affairs Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya emphasized that SHA is operating effectively, provided patients are registered.
Mvurya reiterated the government’s commitment to improving the livelihoods of Kenyans through the initiative, despite challenges posed by certain cartels attempting to obstruct its implementation.
He assured the public that the SHA fund is designed to enhance access to quality healthcare and urged citizens to register to benefit from its services.The remarks come amid ongoing national discussions about the efficiency and sustainability of the SHA fund, with government officials continuing to defend its implementation against criticism.
