CNN journalist Larry Madowo recently shared a humorous response to a marriage proposal he received from a Kenyan woman via email. The proposal, which was first sent towards the end of 2024, was followed up by the woman, Bonareri, who was eager to know why Larry hadn’t responded yet.
In his post, Larry included a screenshot of the follow-up email with the caption, “Guess who followed up on their marriage proposal?” In the message, Bonareri reminded him of her original email, asking why he hadn’t provided a definitive “yes” or “no” answer.
“Reference is made to the below email. You did not give me a yes or no answer,” she wrote, clearly expecting a reply.
When she initially sent her proposal, Bonareri wasted no time getting straight to the point. In her direct email, she introduced herself, shared her age (24), and bluntly stated her desire for Larry to marry her. She also hinted that more details would be shared later, leaving much to the imagination.
“Good day Larry, no wasting words. I am twenty-four years old, Kenyan, and want you to marry me. Everything will be explained later,” the email read.
Larry’s post quickly went viral, with many users on social media urging him to respond to the heartfelt, if somewhat direct, proposal.
