As Christians across the country gathered to mark Easter Sunday, religious leaders used the occasion to call for peace, unity, and compassion among Kenyans.

In Nairobi, the Holy Family Minor Basilica drew large crowds of faithful who came to commemorate the resurrection of Christ — a cornerstone of the Christian faith. The service was marked by prayer, song, and reflection on the meaning of Easter.

Leading the Easter Mass, Bishop Simon Kamomoe called on Kenyans to resist political incitement and instead become ambassadors of peace. “Let us not be divided along tribal lines.

We must strive to live as instruments of peace and emulate Christ’s teachings in our daily lives,” he said.Bishop Kamomoe also urged political leaders to put the interests of the people first, emphasizing the importance of love, unity, and national cohesion.

At the All Saints Cathedral, the message was echoed, with sermons centered on the resurrection of Jesus Christ as a reaffirmation of Christian faith.

Clergy emphasized that the season of Easter should inspire acts of compassion, urging Kenyans to support the sick, the needy, and the less fortunate in society.

The clergy’s unified call comes at a time when the country continues to grapple with political tensions and economic challenges, with many hoping the Easter message will inspire healing and solidarity across communities.
