President William Ruto has announced a fresh wave of appointments and reappointments across the government, which affect a number of state agencies.
In a gazette notice released on Friday, the President confirmed 29 appointments across different sectors.
Among the key changes is the reappointment of Brown Ondego as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the board of the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA). Ondego will serve another three-year term at the aviation regulator.
Ondego previously served as the Managing Director of the Kenya Ports Authority and has been chairing the KCAA board.
The President also reappointed Emilio Mugo as the chairperson of the board of the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) for another three-year term.
At the same time, Raphael Munavu was reappointed to continue serving as the chairperson of the board of the Konza Technopolis Development Authority, which oversees the development of the country’s Konza smart city project.
In the tourism sector, Francis Gichaba also secured another term as chairperson of the Kenya Tourism Board.
Meanwhile, Julius Nyabundi was reappointed as chairperson of the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) for a four-year term starting March 13.
Former Nyatike MP Edick Omondi Anyanga was also reappointed as chairperson of the board of the Kenya Nuclear Regulatory Authority for another three years.
The President also renewed the terms of some members of the board of the LAPSSET Corridor Development Authority, which included Anwar Oloitiptip, Shadrack Tulon, Abdikahiya Maalim, Nasra Ibrahim Ibren, and Jeremiah Apalia Lomari.
At the same time, some Cabinet Secretaries announced fresh appointments to various institutions under their respective ministries.
Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi announced the appointment of a fresh disciplinary committee for the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK). The committee will be chaired by Christopher Mwangi Ahamed and will also include Kivulli Francis Joseph Kithuka, Eunice Lumallas, Rachel Chebukati and Koki Muli Grignon.
Mining and Blue Economy CS Hassan Joho also reappointed several members to the board of the Kenya Maritime Authority and named Yahya Mohamed as a new member.
Defence CS Soipan Tuya appointed Roline Kendi as secretary of the Kenya Defence Forces Pension Appeals Committee.
Environment CS Deborah Barasa reappointed Sophia Takaria Matura and John Muthusi Kimondiu to the NEMA board and also named Maj. (Rtd.) Wafula Asman Omari Mutacho and Lilian Apadet as new members.
Other Cabinet Secretaries, including Julius Ogamba, Salim Mvurya and Mutahi Kagwe, also made appointments to several institutions such as the Kenya Veterinary Board, the Youth Enterprise Development Fund and a number of national polytechnics.
The appointments are part of ongoing efforts by the government to reorganise leadership in key public institutions.
