President William Ruto has reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic and economic ties with Portugal, as the two nations mark over five decades of bilateral relations.
Speaking at State House, Nairobi, President Ruto said Kenya is keen on deepening trade relations with Portugal, with a focus on expanding market access for Kenyan exports, particularly value-added agricultural products.
“We are keen to deepen our trade ties with Portugal and expand market access for Kenyan exports, particularly our value-added agricultural products,”Ruto said.
The President noted that beyond trade, both countries are exploring opportunities to enhance cooperation in investment, maritime affairs, tourism, cultural exchange, and migration. He emphasized that such collaboration is aimed at delivering tangible benefits for citizens of both nations.
President Ruto also welcomed Portugal’s decision to open a visa centre in Nairobi, terming it a significant step towards easing travel and strengthening people-to-people connections between the two countries.
The Head of State made the remarks during a meeting with Portuguese Foreign Affairs Minister Paulo Rangel.
